Dr. Jim Keller Ph.D.
Jim Keller was born and raised in Oklahoma and graduated high school in Oklahoma City. Upon earning his Bachelor’s Degree from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, he entered the world of advertising and marketing. After a few years, he returned to his first love of psychology and completed his Master’s of Counseling at the University of Central Oklahoma.
Dr. Keller performed his doctoral work at the University of Oklahoma, earning a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology. It was during his dissertation research with cardiac patients that he developed a passion for health-related psychology. He then completed a Fellowship in Pediatric Psychology at the OU Medical Center, where he later joined the faculty serving as the Director of the Pediatric Psychology Consultation and Liaison Service for Children’s Hospital.
Dr. Keller left the academic setting to establish a private practice in Oklahoma City and concurrently worked with Norman Regional Hospital for several years. During his time with Norman Regional, he first had the opportunity to begin serving bariatric patients, a population with whom he thoroughly enjoyed working.
Since 2001, the psychology of bariatrics has become Dr. Keller’s primary specialty, and he has conducted over 8,000 pre-surgical psychological evaluations for nearly a dozen surgeons over the past six years.
Dr. Keller joined Transforming Lives in January, 2006 as Director of Behavioral Health. In this position he performed a range of clinical duties at Foundation Surgical Hospital of Oklahoma and coordinated program development for the Behavioral Health Department. Today, his long-standing relationship at WeightWise Bariatric Program gives patients valuable support and guidance during the course of their weight-loss journey. Dr. Keller is married with two children, is an avid OU fan and enjoys golfing.
